Air Liquide, through its subsidiary Shanghai Chemical Industry Park Industrial Gases Company (SCIPIG), has just signed a new 15-year industrial gases contract with Bayer Polyurethanes (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (BPUS).
SCIPIG will invest in a Steam Methane Reformer (hydrogen unit) designed and built by Lurgi, Air Liquide subsidiary, and in a carbon monoxide unit, which will be built and commissioned by the Engineering and Construction teams of Air Liquide. The total production capacity will be around 130,000 tonnes per year. Those units will be commissioned at the beginning of 2012.

Prior to these contracts, SCIPIG was already supplying oxygen and nitrogen from its air separation unit to meet the needs of various users at the Bayer Integrated Site Shanghai. With this carbon monoxide and hydrogen supply agreement, SCIPIG has further strengthened its relationship with BPUS.
